Barlo Engineering trading as Clonmel Engineering Works was started by Matt Barlow in 1944 (father of Sean Barlow) .The original premises was in Emmet Street, Clonmel which is where Superquinn Shopping Centre is now located.

The company's first major achievement came in 1948 when we were appointed Main Distributors for David Brown tractors and Claas combine harvesters. This contract meant we were the sole distributors for counties Tipperary, Kilkenny and Waterford for David Brown and Class.

Business kept going from strength to strength during the 1960's and 1970's, and in 1978 , the newly named Barlo Farm Machinery moved it's Clonmel premises to a brand new facility which was opened by Mr Jim Gibbons, the then Minister for Agriculture.

Barlo Farm Machinery served the farming community with great pride from it's 5 branches, namely Clonmel, Kilkenny, Thurles, Tipperary Town and Dungarvan right up to the early 2000's. A new generation of the Barlow family were coming through ,and in 1989 , Barlo Motors was appointed as Main Ford dealer for South Tipperary. The ' Barlo' name meant a lot to people and it was seen as a great move forward for the area to have Barlo Motors selling Ford cars and commercials. Sadness came in 2002 when Dealer Principal Ray Barlow passed away after a short illness. The company re-grouped and Alan and Ivan Barlow came to the helm and this is still how things are today.

The Barlo motto from the start was ' Treat Your Customer As You Would Like To Be Treated Yourself ' and this has worked well as we still deal with many grandchildren of original customer's back in the 1940's.

Buying my first brand new car off the lot was a huge deal for me, and the experience I had with was honestly exceptional from start to finish.

I dealt with Brendan, and he went above and beyond throughout the entire process. No question was ever too much, nothing felt rushed, and I never once felt under pressure. I was able to take multiple test drives and really take my time figuring out what I wanted, which made such a difference.

Brendan was incredibly helpful with all the paperwork and made everything feel straightforward and stress-free. Every single thing that was promised happened exactly when he said it would. Everything was delivered on time, communication was excellent, and the whole experience just felt easy and enjoyable.

I visited a lot of showrooms while searching for my first new car, and nowhere else came close to the atmosphere at Barlo Hyundai. Everyone was so friendly, approachable, and genuinely willing to go out of their way to help me get exactly what I wanted.

I honestly wouldn’t go anywhere else now. I’ll absolutely be back again in the future, and I genuinely couldn’t recommend them more highly.

Thanks Brendan.

I had an absolutely fantastic experience buying my new Hyundai i20 Deluxe from Barlo Hyundai Clonmel.
From my very first visit, I was made to feel welcome and never under any pressure. Keith was incredibly knowledgeable, patient and helpful. He took the time to answer all of my questions and helped me decide which car was the best fit for me. His honest advice and professional approach made choosing my new car an easy and enjoyable experience.
When it came time to collect the car, John was equally outstanding. He had everything perfectly organised. He also took plenty of time to explain all the new technology and features of the car in a clear and easy to understand way, making sure I felt confident before driving away.
The customer service from both Keith and John was exceptional from start to finish. They were friendly, professional and genuinely cared about making the whole experience enjoyable.
I absolutely love my new Hyundai i20 Deluxe and I couldn't be happier with both the car and the outstanding service I received. I would highly recommend Barlo Hyundai to anyone looking to buy a car.
Thank you, Keith and John, for making this such a positive and memorable experience!

I was extremely satisfied with the service from start to finish. The communication throughout was excellent, keeping me informed every step of the way. The waiting time was exactly as promised, and the pricing was fair and transparent with no surprises. The staff and in particular Catriona were professional, friendly, and made the whole experience easy and stress-free. I would happily recommend this dealership to anyone and will definitely return for future servicing.

Had a repair done under warranty and Cathriona was fantastic throughout. Great communication keeping me informed at each step and even opened early this morning so I could return the courtesy car and get to work. First class service.

We are delighted with the customer service we received. From the very beginning with our many visits checking things out, no pressure was felt. All the staff were friendly and relaxed, Brendan especially was very helpful with our final choice, with our applications, & all the forms which made things stress free for us, as well as set up on the new car before driving home.
Thank you very much we love our new car!! 🚘
